About
Hello, I'm Robyn, owner and creator of Hoodscarf. I love colour, and print, and anything quirky makes me smile. I make merino infinity scarves with hoods, beanies, and cute baby hats out of as many scraps as possible, minimising waste fabric. Hoodscarf is my mission to bring you warmth on cold days, through cosy merino accessories in joyful colours.
My Mum taught me to sew as a kid (thanks Mum), and I’ve been sewing and making things ever since. I studied Fashion Design at Massey, then moved into the textile industry where I soaked up as much knowledge as I could, in particular around merino.
I feel the cold, and layer up merino during the Winter months (and some of Autumn, and Spring to be honest). You’ll find a merino scarf all but surgically attached to my neck for a good portion of the year. I'd been making infinity scarves for myself for yonks, and one day started playing around with adding a hood. And so Hoodscarf was created.
For me merino is the best because it's super warm, while being lightweight. The merino I use is of NZ and AUS origin from an Oeko Tex and Responsible Wool Standard certified factory. I also have a good sized stash of bits that I’m using up, and am always looking to source unneeded merino from other people’s stashes.
